Designed by Flavin Architects. this mid-century modern home is located in Lincoln, Massachusetts, USA. By the time the house was built, modernism had evolved from the Gropius era, to incorporate the rural vibe of Lincoln with spectacular exposed wooden beams and deep overhangs. The design rejects the traditional New England house with its enclosing wall and inward posture. Their latest is Patch of Sky, a set of three internet-connected lamps that keep you linked with your loved ones no matter where they are. Affleck de la Riva Architects completed the design and development of Landsdowne House, a modern dwelling in Westmount, Montreal, Canada. As a semi-detached house on a hill side, the project is an essay on asymmetry. Westmount’s past as an Anglo-Saxon enclave within French Canada saw the local flowering of such historic styles as Arts and Crafts and Neo-Gothic. Both these styles used asymmetry and informality to distinguish themselves from the more rigid forms of French and Italian classicism. Continue reading »
A vacation home at the heart of the city is a private residence located in The Philippines and designed by Sohu Designs.
The interior has a décor that is elegant and innovative, while still remaining cozy and providing comfort. The living room has a neutral palette, helping the wood tones from the furnishings stand out and add a touch of warmth. Meanwhile, the bedrooms were given a minimalist treatment. The master bedroom has green walls and wooden floors to create the relaxing ambience the clients wanted. The girls’ room, on the other hand, has purple paint accents. Then another room has a very distinct black wall accented by white wooden blocks designed to create a “falling rain effect”. Cutting and installing these blocks took three months to complete.
